Centaurea cyanus

Days to Maturity: 75-85

A purple natural dye plant! Bachelor's Button is also known as coneflower. A beautiful, bright, easy to grow annual. Drought tolerant and enjoys full sun. We love these stunning dark purple flowers! Fun fact: Its Latin name "Centaurea" comes from the myth of a centaur who healed himself from a poisoned arrow with Bachelor's Button. See last photo for the dried flowers ready to make dye.

Grown by Bluebird Dye Gardens in Dolores, CO.

Planting Instructions: Sow Bachelor's Button flower seed directly in the ground after all danger of frost has passed. Plant 1/4" deep and cover lightly with soil. Keep moist until seeds germinate.

Seed Saving Instructions: Allow Bachelor's Button flower heads to seed and dry fully. Store seeds in a paper or mesh bag in a cool, dark and dry location.

Approx 50 Bachelor's Button seeds per packet
