Salvia sclarea

Biennial flower, herb & culinary seed; flowers & produces seed in 2nd year after planting

Clary Sage is a fragrant, pollinator-friendly perennial wildflower. This Clary Sage seed has been adapted to the Rocky Mountains for 10+ years. Incredibly fragrant, purple flowers are often distilled to make an essential oil. Its many traditional herbal properties have been well-documented for centuries. The flowers are a favorite of bees and other pollinators--especially bumble bees! Seeds are gelatinous when soaked in water like chia, and can be eaten in pudding, oatmeal, pancakes, smoothies and anywhere else you may use chia. Unlike chia, Clary Sage seeds have a delicate floral taste-- absolutely delicious. Note that Clary Sage readily self-seeds.
